Hey, how in the world are you?? 

​

My name is Nik Day, and I'm super excited you're on my website.

 

A little about me - I wrote my first piano song when I was 5 years old. Not to give away my age, but I have more than 30 years of piano composing under my belt, and nothing brings me more joy.

​

Composing on the piano is very therapeutic for me. Sometimes I sit down at the piano and before I realize it 2 hours have passed, and it seems like I've solved all the problems in the world. 

​

And you know the crazy part??

 

I don't read music...

​

I mean, I read enough to plunk out a simple hymn or two, but it's not easy for me. 

​

I had a piano teacher, but she didn't teach me how to read music – she taught me how to write my songs down on paper.

 

Basically, what I do is play it into Finale and make some simple edits. 

​

Starting out, my piano compositions were not great. My songs were all over the place and I was left guessing what to do next. There was no structure and I had no idea what I was doing. It was frustrating.

 

But I didn't quit.

 

After years of working on my craft and writing hundreds of songs, when I was 16 I created my first book of piano solos and local piano teachers used the book to teach their students. It was pretty cool for a homeschooled kid from Idaho Falls.

And now, I'm a full-time musician living the dream! I create live productions, compose music for videos, and write Christian music with lyrics, but I've always loved composing instrumental music on the piano best.

​
